Mark your calendars Wednesday, May 25th for Legislative Day. The General Assembly will be coming in the week before to finish out the 2021/2022 session with their traditional short session. This year we want to utilize our visits with an appreciation visit and gift for their passage of the Firefighter Cancer Insurance Legislation last year.
Our current plans, which will be firmed up in the coming month, is to gather in the morning and allow each of our fire service attendees to pick up gifts specific to their Representatives or Senators, and then deliver them to their office and present them. This should also allow for some photo opportunities. For members of the General Assembly whom we don’t have attendees representing present, we’ll utilize our Board and perhaps our partners the Chiefs Board members to go and present them.
Please put this on your calendar to attend. Showing our appreciation to them for their support will go a long way in the future for keeping great relations. It will also help to make local connections between members of the General Assembly and the local fire service.
Note: For any who may have concerns on presenting gifts, we have requested and received approval from the Ethics Review Board for the gifts, and each legislator will receive one. Thanks.
