Based on previous guidance by OSHA, used N-95 masks were to be disposed. This mandate was understood to include fit testing. OSHA has stated during this event that agencies “should implement qualitative fit testing to assess adequacy of a respirator fit to minimize destruction of N-95 respirator used in fit testing and allow for limited re-use”. Plainly stated, if the mask isn’t damaged during fit testing, it can be re-used.
