Mark your calendars for May 25, 2022
May 25, 2022 we will come together once again for the annual Fire Service Legislative Day. This is the time to make your voices heard by visiting your representatives so the vitally important issues facing the fire service in North Carolina can be discussed in person. It is also a great time to thank your representatives for the support they have given us in the past and their continued support in the future.
The General Assembly should be coming in the week before to finish out the 2021/2022 session with their traditional short session. This year we want to utilize our visits with an appreciation visit and gift for their passage of the Firefighter Cancer Insurance Legislation last year.
Our current plans is to gather in the morning and allow each of our fire service attendees to pick up gifts specific to their Representatives or Senators, and then deliver them to their office and present them. This should also allow for some photo opportunities. For members of the General Assembly that we don’t have attendees present, we’ll utilize our Board and perhaps our partners the Chiefs Board members to go and present the gifts.
We will gather together on May 25th at 8am at the offices of OSFM, on the corner of Lane and Salisbury Streets, right across the street from the Legislative Office Building. We look forward to seeing you all and joining together to make a difference for the fire service in North Carolina.
Note: For any who may have concerns on presenting gifts, we have requested and received approval from the Ethics Review Board for the gifts, and each legislator will receive one.
