North Carolina Fire Service Legislative Day 2024

May 15th was the annual North Carolina Fire Service Legislative Day and it was a huge success.  Fire service personnel from across the state came to visit their representatives and advocate for vitally important issues that impact our state’s firefighters every day.  Among the priorities being pushed this year are a permanent funding source for the Firefighter’s Cancer Benefit Program, adding retirees (those who retired within 10 years) to the Firefighter’s Cancer Benefit Program coverage, increasing pension benefits to $180 and more.  We are grateful to all that came out in support of the mission and to push the message.  Your presence alone makes more of an impact than you could ever imagine, but when we can speak with one voice and with one message our voices can be heard loud and clear.

We would like to thank Representative Julia Howard, Representative John Bell (House Majority Leader), and Senator Jim Perry (Senate Majority Whip) for attending the morning briefing and addressing the more than 200 firefighters in attendance.  We are very aware of how many demands you have on your time and are thankful to you for your service and commitment to the firefighters of this state.
