North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association Announces Retirement of Executive Director Tim Bradley
Raleigh, NC — The North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association today announced that Tim Bradley, its longtime and respected Executive Director, will retire. After 50 years in North Carolina’s fire service, 28 years with the State of North Carolina and now more than 12 years of distinguished service with The North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association, Tim Bradley has decided to retire, marking the end of a significant chapter in the organization’s history and a remarkable career in service to the first responders of North Carolina.
Since joining the North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association in 2012, working with the Board and staff, Tim has led the organization through countless achievements, including but not limited to: legislation stabilizing the Firefighters Relief Fund: funding for the Volunteer Safety Workers Comp Program; a firefighter cancer benefit program for active and retired firefighters; an increase in pension benefits; and changing the organization’s name from firemen’s to firefighters’ to be more inclusive.

His commitment to his work and his service to the community, the state, and the fire services as a whole is marked by a passion that is truly unparalleled,” said Curt Deaton, Board President of the North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association. “He has not only guided us through the ever-evolving landscape of the fire service but has also inspired us to work for every person in the fire service in North Carolina, literally embodying our organization’s motto – ‘Every Firefighter. Everyday.’ Tim’s legacy will continue to guide how we plan for the future of the fire service for years to come.”
“I’ve been a very blessed individual,” said Tim Bradley. “I’ve gotten to work in a career I love, the fire service, which to me is one of the greatest callings a person can have. I’ve worked together with some great individuals, a wonderful and dedicated staff, Board members I respect and admire, a wife and family that supported me, and always felt that together we’ve made the fire service a little better. It’s been truly humbling and rewarding at the same time. I’ll miss the job, but I’ll miss the people the most.”
The Board of Directors will begin the search for a new Executive Director immediately, with a focus on finding a leader who will continue the organization’s mission and build upon the strong foundation established by Tim. Tim will stay on until a new Executive Director is in place to ensure continuity and a smooth transition in the months to come.
